Tomahawks Announce Jack Ham Bobblehead Night

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. –The Johnstown Tomahawks are proud to announce “Jack Ham Bobblehead Night” presented by Northwest Savings Bank in honor of team minority owner and football legend Jack Ham. The first 1,000 fans to enter the War Memorial Arena on Thursday, Jan. 31 will receive a bobblehead when the Tomahawks host the Port Huron Fighting Falcons at 7 p.m.

Ham will also be in attendance to drop the ceremonial game puck. Gates open to the public at 6 p.m.

“Jack Ham has been an instrumental part of our organization and its goal to bring quality hockey back to the region,” said Team President Rick Bouchard. “He has a tremendous passion for this community and its sports teams, and we want to pay tribute to his dedication to the Tomahawks and this town.”

Ham grew up in Johnstown and graduated from Bishop McCort High School before attending Pennsylvania State University, where he starred as a linebacker for the Nittany Lions football team. At Penn State, Ham’s accolades included being named to the 1970 College Football All-America team.  He later played 11 seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers and was part of four Super Bowl championship teams.  He retired in 1982 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1990.

“Jack Ham Bobblehead Night” will kick off a stretch of three home games in three days at the War Memorial Arena. Following Thursday’s game, the Tomahawks will again play the Fighting Falcons on Friday at 7 p.m. before hosting the current division-leading Sault Ste. Marie Eagles on Saturday, February 2 at 7 p.m. That game will feature Youth Hockey Night, during which the Tomahawks pay tribute to local youth hockey organizations attending the game.
